Poppleston Allen Consultancy and Training offers licensing training for local authority councillors, officers and consultees. These courses give candidates the opportunity to increase their awareness of the changes and new responsibilities under licensing reform.
BII National Certificate for Licensing Practitioners (NCLP)
Poppleston Allen Training and Consultancy are one of the few training organisations to have been approved to offer the new BII course for Licensing Practitioners.
The qualification has been developed in partnership with LACORS, the Institute of Licensing and the Society for Licensing Practitioners.
The National Certificate for Licensing Practitioners has been developed for those directly involved in managing licensing activities within an organisation, the police and all officers involved with the licensing functions of their local authority. It gives participants a thorough introduction to the Licensing Act 2003. Uniquely, this one day training course will provide delegates with a qualification, which is on the national framework. The course covers topics such as licensable activities, types of licence, hearings and enforcement.
The course fee of £200 + vat includes the BII exam fee, handbook, tuition, certificate costs and lunch.

The course is available on a public basis ( Courses will be listed on our website www.popalltraining.co.uk ) or on a group basis at your premises. The course cost is £200 plus vat per candidate and this includes training, lunch, certficates and examination fees.
Licensing/Gambling Committee Members Training
The training is aimed at Licensing Committee Members and is relevant both to existing, as a refresher, and to new. Officers and indeed Lawyers have also attended and found it beneficial.
The training covers the Licensing Act 2003, summarising its main parts, including premises licences, licensing objectives, interested parties and the procedure for hearings with case studies if applicable.
The training covers the Gambling Act 2005 summarising its main parts, including premises licences, licensing objectives, interested parties and the procedure for hearings with case studies if applicable.
The training is interactive and examples are given throughout and discussion invited.
The final part of the training concentrates on Committee conduct, evidence, and good practice in hearings, decision making, fairness and appeals.
Finally, the training is flexible and can be tailored to suit individual requirements.
